Watch movies on your Treo

If you would like to pass the time while traveling (or waiting in line) watching movies or recorded TV shows on your Treo or other Palm device, you will be glad to know that until January 2, 2007, Pocket DVD Studio is on sale.  The very reasonable regular price is $32, but now you can get this software for $26.99.  I've used it for the last year and it works great.  It compresses DVD's or recorded TV (from my Windows Media Center PC) to a size that will easily fit on my SD flash memory card to play on my Treo 650.

Law office tech bargains for holiday shoppers

As we head into the peak of the holiday shopping season, here are some nice gift ideas for lawyers and law office staff.

If you use a Bluetooth-enabled PDA, including a Treo smart phone or Palm Tungsten E2 or TX, you can hotsync wirelessly with your computer by adding a Bluetooth network adapter to your PC.  Office Depot has the Targus Bluetooth USB Adapter for $19.99 after a $10 mail-in rebate.

Let's say you are traveling a couple hours by car to an important meeting or deposition.  You need to use your notebook computer, but as you leave the office you notice that the battery is nearly dead and your not sure whether there will be a conveniently located electrical outlet at the meeting site.  This is where a universal mobile power adapter comes in handy.  Just plug your standard 120 volt wall charger into the adapter, which in turn plugs into your vehicle's power outlet, and your notebook's battery will charge as you driveBest Buy has the CyberPower 150-Watt AC Mobile Power Adapter on sale for $39.99.

Also at Best Buy is a great deal on an internal hard drive to increase the storage capacity of your office or home PC.  Get a roomy Western Digital 7200 rpm internal hard drive for only $59.99.

Keep organized with the terrific Palm TX PDA.  This handheld device has both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi networking built-in.  That means you can access the Internet for email or Web browsing at a Wi-Fi hotspot.  If you can't find a hotspot, many cell phones are Bluetooth enabled and can serve as a wireless modem for the TX.  For many lawyers, a Palm TX with a compact folding keyboard, can replace a notebook computer when you travel.  Now at Circuit City, when you buy a TX, you get a Palm Wireless Keyboard free after a $70 mail in rebate.

For the ultimate law office computer monitor, head to Staples for the Samsung 22" wide screen LCD monitor for $379.98 after a $20 Staples Easy Rebate.  With this much screen area, you can view two documents simultaneously and still have room to spare.
